This gene belongs to the family of carboxyl methyltransferases whose members catalyze the transfer of the methyl group from S-adenosyl-L-methionine to carboxylic acid-containing substrates to form small molecule methyl esters. Expression of TCP genes is downregulated in mutant iamt1-D.
