A member of the Arabidopsis SABATH methyltransferase gene family. Encodes GAMT1, a methyltransferase that uses S-adenosine-L-methionine (SAM) as a methyl donor to methylate the carboxyl group of GAs, resulting in the methyl esters of GAs (MeGAs). Expressed most highly in the siliques during seed development.
